Techniques in the TCW
Zu den traditionellen chinesischen Wissenschaftsrichtungen, hier abgekürzt als TCW, zählen Divinations- und Prognosetechniken mit Bazi Suanming, die chinesische Geomantie, uns als Feng Shui bekannt, die traditionelle chinesische Medizin auch TCM abgekürzt, die Techniken der daoistischen Lebensverlängerung mit Qigong, Ernährungslehre nach den 5 Elementen und den Selbsverteidigungstechniken Taiji Quan und Kung-Fu, wie auch weitere alchemistische Techniken, die ich hier erstmal nicht weiter betrachte.
But also all the other fields of knowledge that Chinese culture has produced. The tea culture, calligraphy in the humanities or the development of the compass, the invention of porcelain and paper in technology and engineering are particularly worth mentioning here, regardless of modern developments.
Concepts in the TCW
All the techniques listed above have one thing in common: they all refer to a fundamental concept, the "Qi" as the absolute center of all Chinese sciences. All other concepts of Chinese science can be derived from this, with the theory of yin and yang, the 5 phases of change (with the elements wood, fire, earth, metal and water), of the 3 entities, the 60-digit cycle of the 10 heavenly stems and 12 earth branches as an abstract, numerical framework for the description of temporal and climatic aspects, the 24 climatic periods of Qi, the 12 qualitative development periods of Qi also known as Qi phases and the concept of the 8 trigrams and 64 hexagrams of IGing for the structural description of changes.
I will discuss these concepts in more detail, but for now I will only mention them here. However, my aim is not to present these really complex and seemingly foreign concepts in technical Chinese. I want to find simple descriptions for these relationships that will help you understand your own life situation.
